Our Story
How we met.
Although Charlie and Andrea call Los Angeles home, they first met at The Press Bistro in Midtown Sacramento back in December, 2015. On their first date, Charlie initially thought he was getting stood up, but Andrea did show up fashionably late after driving up from Napa and accidentally entering the restaurant across the street. Following a delightful dinner, Andrea and Charlie shared a glass of wine at Charlie’s nearby apartment. Andrea was impressed by Charlie's large collection of books and together they chatted while leafing through books and bonding over a mutual appreciation for architecture, good design, and vintage furniture. Noticing Charlie's acoustic guitar, Andrea couldn't resist asking him to play something. He picked up his guitar and played her a flawless rendition of “Wonderwall” by the 90s Britpop sensation Oasis. Every weekend that followed, Charlie would eagerly invite Andrea out.
Their journey has been filled with many cherished memories and life events: weekend getaways to Charlie's family cabin in Santa Cruz, camping up and down California, scuba diving adventures in the Channel Islands, sailing courses in Long Beach, relocating from Northern California to Southern California, Charlie's graduation from Business School, purchasing a condo, welcoming their beloved and well-behaved puppy Henry into their lives, and, finally, getting engaged.
The proposal.
For the past few years, Charlie and Andrea (and Henry) had made it a tradition to take an annual Big Sur summer road trip. Despite enjoying numerous weekend camping trips that year, they hadn't taken a more leisurely vacation in quite some time. Thus, when Charlie suggested extending their Big Sur trip to a full week with a stop at the Ojai Valley Inn along the way, Andrea eagerly agreed.
Upon their arrival in Ojai, they had a quick lunch before stopping at Bart’s Books, and finally settling into the Ojai Valley Inn. Charlie had made dinner reservations at Nicciola, a charming Italian restaurant in town, and with time to spare, they decided to explore the Inn's grounds and enjoy a drink before dinner. As they wandered, Charlie guided Andrea to a picturesque spot – a gravel path flanked by lush greenery, olive trees, and lavender. There, on September 18th of 2023 beneath the olive trees, he knelt down on one knee, and asked Andrea to marry him… Andrea said YES!
After soaking in the moment together just the two of them, a photographer arranged by Charlie appeared and they were swept into an impromptu engagement photo session.
Following the proposal and photo session, they retreated to the fire pits on the lawn, toasting their engagement with glasses of champagne as the sun set. After several days spent horse-back riding, biking around town, and lounging by the pool, they drove up to Morro Bay to pick up their dog Henry, who was lodging with Charlie’s brother, Grant, and continued up to their favorite camping spot, Plaskett Creek Campground in Big Sur. There they enjoyed every moment of what undoubtedly became the best week of their lives thus far.
